Back in the days when fashion shows were seen in Salons where buyers and press and the privileged few were invited exclusively to preview a new collection, designers and their venues had a different set of goals. The fashion experience was more intimate. On January 19, 2011, Kevan Hall?s highlights from his Spring 2011 collection promise to take us back to those earlier days of Gabrielle Bonheur "Coco" Chanel, Paul Poiret, and others like them who started the Salon show, where a lucky few could peer into their domain of fashion design as art and publicize to the rest of the world that they had the next new inclination in fashion. Well, now it?s 2011, and the new millennium is eleven years old. We are all in the age of Twitter and Facebook. The founders of Agenda Loft (Kaylene Peoples and Arun Nevader) have brought the Salon showcase back from its appealing niche history. This new fashion performance loft is in the heart of the hip Old Bank District of Downtown LA.
"I enjoy the process of design from concept to execution, but the most gratifying part is seeing a design come to life on a beautiful woman."?Kevan Hall
Designer Kevan Hall, who has looked to iconic old Hollywood for inspiration, is an icon himself and is no stranger to the fashion world or its accolades. From the start of his couture line, he has appealed to such high-end retailers as Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, and I. Magnin. He was nominated by fashion retailers and press as one of California?s top designers. Hall has been recognized by the Center of Performing Arts and the NAACP. As the creative director for Halston, Kevan Hall redefined the luxury brand for the new century. He worked with his own blend of classic American silhouettes?pleats, drapes, full skirts, and tie fronts?with luxe fabrics and hints of a 1970?s sexiness. And this is what Hall will be showing at Agenda Loft on January 19.
"With a nod to the red carpet sirens of the '30s, my Spring 2011 collection captures the sensuality and glamour for the modern woman. I am pleased to showcase highlights of this collection at the Agenda Loft, Downtown LA"?Kevan Hall
?Who better to be our debut designer than Kevan Hall! I have always loved his work. He is a true inventor and re-inventor of mystique haute couture, as well as affordable fashion for refined women. I lost count of how many Kevan Hall designs have graced the red carpet. And let?s not forget his breathtaking wedding line. I can honestly say there isn?t a single piece in his collection that I wouldn?t be proud to wear. I have been lucky enough to see his line every season on the runway, and now, at Agenda Loft.??Kaylene Peoples, Editor in Chief of Agenda Magazine and Agenda Loft Co-Founder.
?We created Agenda Loft because we love fashion, performance, and intimate space. We love the exhilaration of art in motion. Agenda Loft makes it possible for emerging designers, performers, and visual artists to showcase their work up close and personal, so the audience can see the sewing, see the rich textures of fabric, be overtaken with the wash of color and light across geometries of human and architectural forms. Fashion has always been a performance art. Agenda Loft brings us back to an earlier time where fashion and theatrical performance could be experienced for the close choreography of their beauty. This state-of-the-art space is one of those rare places to create, and that?s what we offer to artist, client, and audience alike.??Fashion Photographer and Agenda Loft Co-Founder Arun Nevader
In a town where the big runway once ruled, now designer installations and live photo shoots are more prevalent to our fashion design experience. Kevan Hall?s red carpet showing on January 19, 2011, will feature a lounge feel and cool hip environment with a live photo shoot, accompanied by great music, gourmet food, and fine wine within the intimate backdrop of Agenda Loft and the Los Angeles skyline. Guests in attendance will have the opportunity to see highlights of Hall?s Spring 2011 collection up close and to be a part of the ultimate fashion viewing experience.
So where do our creators of fashion go to launch their new lines when budget and objective don?t require 1,000 seats, when all they really want is the ?right? audience? Agenda Loft is their new benefactor.
