Pittsburgh?s Gillece Services Plumbing Mission Benefits Health Of Countless Haitians

Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) November 04, 2011

As a long-time financial supporter having donated a great deal of time and resources to Friends of HaiTi,* Pittsburgh?s Tom Gillece thoughtfully planned this year?s annual ?Gillece Services 2011 Haiti Plumbing Mission? in connection with Pastor Pierre and the caring, non-profit organization. Mr. Anthony Venditti, a skill-certified Gillece Services Plumbing Technician, volunteered and carried out this year?s Haiti Plumbing Mission by implementing a relief program that included Plumbing correction, construction, and installation strategies for doctor clinics, dental clinics, and the Friends of HaitTi compound, along with educational training on hygiene and sanitation practices, and clean water issues.

Fourteen trade professionals spent a full week this year supporting the organization and its efforts to promote clean water programs, medical assistance, construction, and educational programs in order to help and empower the Haitian people to improve their quality of life. Friends of HaiTi was especially happy to hear that the Plumbing trade would be well represented this year by Gillece Service?s Anthony Vendetti, as his background covered commercial plumbing, specifically for dental offices?. which proved to be an enormous asset to the mission?s initiatives for Haiti.

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Anthony took with him over eight years of Plumbing experience including his Gillece Services employment while he happily volunteered to conduct the mission and truly enjoys helping people. Anthony, ?I?ve always enjoyed helping others, especially being able to help children. It was so rewarding not only to see how happy the children were because we were there and they knew we were going to help them, but also to actually directly see where our time and money was going??

Pittsburgh?s Gillece Services advanced several thousands of dollars worth of Plumbing equipment to Haiti in order to prepare for this year?s mission, while Anthony was busy attending local Pittsburgh meetings with Friends of HaiTi to strategize his volunteer work, getting his vaccinations, and conducting related preparation.

While in Haiti, Anthony developed a comprehensive Waterline Plumbing System for a doctor?s residence that houses doctors in training and also services as a clinic, installed another full Plumbing System for a dental office where dentists had resorted to doing dental suction work with a turkey baster prior to his visit, conducted additional crucial Plumbing repairs to yet another dental clinic, roughed in all Plumbing for a bathroom in a second doctor?s clinic, as well as the installation of and corrections for three bathrooms including showers, sinks, and toilets in the actual Friends of HaiTi compound.????????

Friend of HaiTi?s Pastor Pierre, ?The Gillece Plumbing company sent a young man, Anthony Venditti, to solve the plumbing problem that we had with three new bathrooms in the guest house's addition. It was very difficult, but he put us back in business. Now, thanks to the Gillece plumbing, we can accommodate our guests better in the days to come. Anthony went also to Paul to do plumbing in the bathroom that we have in the medical clinic for our American guests. Since Anthony started this plumbing from scratch he was able to teach me and Dr Miguel. I admire Anthony very much. It was his first time in the country. He had no idea what to expect. He brought all the supplies he could think of, but he learned a great lesson in Haiti ? you cannot go to Gillece Services to get all you need, or to Home Depot or Lowes? You?ve got to make whatever is available work! In spite of that, he did a perfect job. Thank you Tom and thank you Anthony.?

Thanks to the support of the Friends of HaiTi and the efforts of Gillece Services, thousands of Haitian lives will be touched and their health improved via working, quality Plumbing throughout now functioning dental clients, equipped doctor clinics, and a far more operational base compound.

Comprehensive Benefits Plans Key to Building a Strong Workforce

Kansas City, Kan. (PRWEB) November 04, 2011

It's no surprise that having a well-rounded compensation plan in place is key for employers looking to amp up their workforce. As such, offering medical insurance benefits and paid time-off is often simply not enough. The Benefits USA 2011/2012 survey results found employers are offering a myriad of benefits to keep their employees happy. Dental insurance, for example, is offered by 98.2 percent of employers, while vision insurance is offered by 84.5 percent.

Ninety-nine percent of survey respondents offer a retirement plan to employees. Short and long-term disability is offered by 87.5 percent and 94.3 percent of companies, respectively. Nearly 50 percent offer accident insurance.

Life insurance coverage is also a common offering made by companies to their employees. Nearly 98 percent of employers offer basic life insurance. Seventy percent use multiples of an employee's pay to determine the maximum death benefit beneficiaries will receive. More than 43 percent of the companies using this method set the death benefit at one full year of an employee's pay, while 30.5 percent set the benefit at two year's pay.

"Many companies were forced to scale back their total compensation packages during the height of the recession and benefits were not spared those cutbacks," said Amy Kaminski, director of marketing for Compdata Surveys, the nation's leading pay and benefits survey data provider. "Now, as companies are looking to expand their workforce again, they realize the need to offer a wide range of benefits in order to remain competitive in attracting and retaining top talent."

Only 25.8 percent of employers report offering elder care benefits to employees. These benefits include flexible schedules, long-term care insurance discounts and referral services, among others. However, a study conducted in June by the MetLife Mature Market Institute found the number of adult children caring for aging parents has tripled over the last 15 years, and providing care has cost these caregivers an estimated $ 3 trillion in lost wages, pension and Social Security benefits. As the aging population continues to increase, it may become important for employers to evaluate their benefit packages to include this growing class of dependents.
